getting my thoughts around the cause...
in looking into the paypal option for donations, there seems to be a road block (which is what i expected. nothing is as simple as it should be).
in order to accept any sort of debit/credit card payment, this would need to be set up as a 'premier/business account' which will charge a fee of 1.9% - 2.9 % PLUS $0.30 for every transaction.
i guess the percentage will be determined by them so who knows how much it will actually run. i'm sure they will charge 2.89 % and call it a day.
a $20 donation would be subject to a fee of $0.58 ($20.00 * 2.9%) and then another $0.30 on top of that so $19.12 would go towards the cause.
(someone check my math.. i don't claim to be efficient even with a calculator)
does anyone know much about the ad thing with google/blogger? would that be worth adding to cover the $0.88 to donate?
how's this - i'll cover the cost of donations so your total amount would be going to the cause. i'll pull those funds out of my own pocket along with my donation. is that an incentive?
i'll even go as far as contacting some of my clients and request a button be placed on their webpages. most of my clients are small-town folk that are usually more than willing to help with a good thing.
i'm just really trying to figure out an effective way to do this. with christmas around the corner, some of these families will be cutting it very close (if at all) and anything to help is always more than appreciated.
for the time being - if you want additional info (more so than can be learned here) click the button, email me, and i'll answer any questions you might have.
